Spencer Gilbert Scholarship
$5,000 in Educational Scholarships Available to
Outstanding Students in
FPHA’s Public Housing or Section 8 Program
to Start or Continue Secondary Education.
Scholarships are available for Associate Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Master’s Degree or Vocational Training.
Applications are available at our Main Office at
707 N. 7th Street, Ft. Pierce or at your SiteManagement Office. Applications can also be downloaded on the "File downloads page".
All applications must be submitted no later than Monday, November 15, 2010.
The Resident Services Department provides a variety of supportive services to the residents of the Fort Pierce Housing Authority. The purpose of the Resident Services Department is to promote economic self-sufficiency among the residents of the agency through the provision of workshops and training that will serve to improve personal esteem, enhance employability skills, provide educational opportunities and promote financial independence.

Community Service
NOTICE TO ALL FPHA RESIDENTS
EFFECTIVELY IMMEDIATELY, PLEASE BE ADVISED:
This posting serves as notice of the requirement for the residents to comply with the Community Service and Self- Sufficiency Program as mandated by HUD through the Housing Authority. Let it be known that, except for a family member that is an exempt individual, each adult resident of Public Housing MUST contribute 8 hours per month of community service, or participate in an economic self-sufficiency program for 8 hours per month, or a combination of the two as provided by 24 CFR 960.603. Programs
Public Housing and Section 8 Family Self-Sufficiency Programs These are five year programs specifically structured to provide workshops, supportive services and referrals to clients who are enrolled. Clients enrolled in this program are also afforded the opportunity to save a portion of their rent in an escrow to ensure funding is available to accomplish goals such as college degrees, purchasing a home or other major expenses. As of August 2008, the current participants have an accumulated total of $160,765.75 in their escrow accounts.

Homebuyer Education
This is a two year program designed to educate potential homebuyers on the home buying process. This process includes workshops, credit counseling and an educational series that has proven to be one of the most effective in Saint Lucie County. Our community partners and facilitators include Riverside Bank, National City Bank, Bank United, Saint Lucie County/OF Co-Op Extension, and Freddie Mac.
